Ciao,-Bella-Napoli

Cioa, Bella (Napoli)!

Few things in this world are more satisfying than a delicious, Italian meal. And I have the great fortune of living just a few blocks away from my favorite spot for authentic, mouth-watering Italian cuisine—Kansas City’s very own Bella Napoli. This restaurant/deli/grocer is known for its gourmet Italian products, killer sandwiches, and non-stop pizzas and pastas. No wonder it’s a neighborhood favorite!

Stop by the store and stock up for your next homemade Italian feast. Or head to the deli and sink your teeth into a top-notch sandwich, piled high with freshly sliced meats and cheeses. I suggest “Il Saro” –genoa salami, mortadella, capocalla provolone, giardiniera (a delicious pickled vegetable relish), and balsamic vinaigrette. I’m drooling just thinking about it.

But if you’re looking for quintessential Italian, order a Bella Napoli pizza. This is the REAL DEAL, my friends. The crust is perfection—light, flavorful, and crispy in all the right places. I promise you, each pizza I’ve tried has been more delectable than the last. To be honest, I can’t pick a favorite. I’m a sucker for cured meats, so I always make sure my order includes salami, pancetta, or another member of the sausage family. Dainty, right?

Earlier this week, I tried a “Rughetta” pizza, topped with buffalo mozzarella, tomato, and arugula. It was just plain delightful. The fresh arugula and tomatoes complemented the creamy, rich mozzarella perfectly. Of course, for good measure, I added prosciutto (and several glasses of Chianti). Now that really got the party going!

If there is a moral to this story, it’s eat more Italian food. And never say no to meat on your pizza. Yolo.
